Superman renounces his “U.S. citizenship” … Politicians soon to follow.

Apparently Superman is ready to go global.  I don’ t know about you, but this storyline seems increasingly similar to views held by some Americans in elected office.  Despite the fact that Superman is an alien immigrant that pays no taxes, has no birth certificate, and cannot vote, Superman renounces his U.S. citizenship in Action Comics #900 released yesterday.

Although Superman was traditionally seen as a patriotic symbol of “truth, justice, and the American way”, Superman appears to have had enough of  being connected to America.

I read about this development in the comic and thought…what US citizenship? The dude was born on a different planet!

It isn’t as though he is going to be able to hold a press conference and show his ‘long-form’ birth certificate!

Come to think of it, where are his immigration papers? He crash-landed here without any authorization from anybody! The guy’s an illegal taking jobs from american workers. And since he is able to be so strong and fast, and is willing to work for nothing, he’s taking the jobs of a lot of real Americans and a lot of real American heavy machinery! Not to mention one job of a real American reporter in an age where so many newspapers are struggling.

(Frankly I think the whole thing has a lot more to do with the fact that comic sales…and the sales of movies based on comic books…are international.)
