Working for Free Today?

Today is February 29, 2012.  Once every 4 years, we are blessed to have an additional day added to our year in the month of February.  This year is commonly referred to as a “leap year”.  This is done to keep our calendar year in sync with the seasonal year as a corrective measure because the earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days.

As a result, 2012 (and every leap year) has 366 days instead of 365 days.  Fun fact, right? However, there is a downside for the salaried masses who are paid bi-monthly.  You are working for free today.  As a salaried employee, you are expected to provide an additional day of productivity for no additional pay.  Of course, if you are an employer this is great news, as you are getting an extra day of work out of your employees at no additional cost.
