Consumer Confidence at Five-Year High

Despite the looming “fiscal cliff,” consumer confidence is at a five-year high. This is good news for retailers going into the shopping season, but there are slight signs of wear and tear. The final November index for consumer sentiment is lower than it was in early November, which could mean that the “fiscal cliff” is affecting consumer sentiment as we approach the deadline in January. Overall, consumers are optimistic and willing to spend, so this holiday season should be a good one for all.
