Business Insider Reports its Top Colleges

Business Insider has published its current listing of “The 50 Best Colleges in America”, which is based largely on government compiled data and student experience measurements compiled by Niche, an education research firm.  The rankings were based on the following criteria:

  • High-quality education
  • On-time graduation rates
  • Early-career earnings
  • “a memorable and enjoyable campus experience that instills pride and loyalty for decades to come”

The top ten colleges awarded this honor are as follows:

  1. Princeton University
  2. Harvard University
  3. Yale University
  4. Stanford University
  5. Vanderbilt University
  6. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  7. University of Pennsylvania
  8. Rice University
  9. University of Virginia
  10. Columbia University

University of Virginia was the top public university on the list and the only one to crack the top ten.  The report cites University of Virginia’s average graduate salary10 years after enrollment of $58,600, average SAT score of 1,382 and A+ ranking for student life as among the reasons the school’s key strengths.
