What Buyers Don’t Want

shutterstock_1848576When you own your home, most people have a never ending to-do list of home renovations they would like to accomplish.  Home improvements can be expensive.  For most upgrades, you do not get a dollar-for-dollar increase in the value of your home.  However, most people still choose to carry out the renovation for personal enjoyment.

The California Association of Realtors released a survey of what buyers don’t want.  The following table summarizes the  survey’s results:

Item

Percentage of Respondents that did not want the Renovation
Elevator

70%

Just a Shower Stall in the Master Bath

51%

Wet Bar

41%

Laminate Countertops

40%

Outdoor Kitchen

31%

Glass-Front Cabinets

31%

Ceramic Tile Countertops

30%

So if you are thinking of making a renovation and planning on selling your home in the near future, you should pay attention to the survey results to see if your renovation will pay off with potential buyers.
